Awards

Chemmaruthy Grama Panchayat has been awarded the Swaraj Trophy for the 'Best Grama Panchayat' in the district for four consecutive years: 2017-18 (1st place), 2018-19 (1st place), 2019-20 (2nd place), and 2020-21 (1st place).

The panchayat secured this award for the fourth consecutive time in recognition of the exemplary and innovative projects implemented through the collective cooperation of its administrative committee and staff. Key achievements included elevating the panchayat to ISO standards, achieving 100% tax collection, ensuring 100% project expenditure and 100% utilization of Scheduled Caste funds, and being the first in the district to complete both the first and second phases of the 'LIFE' housing scheme. Additionally, the panchayat settled all applications for various social security pensions, reclaimed 124 hectares of fallow land for agriculture, facilitated group, contract, and leased farming through Kudumbashree women's collectives, and implemented innovative schemes to boost milk and egg production for dairy farmers.

Furthermore, the panchayat upgraded Lower Primary (LP) schools to high-tech standards and launched the state's first digital library. As part of enhancing the Chemmaruthy Family Health Centre, several initiatives were implemented, including a physiotherapy centre, a health and fitness centre, awareness programs on lifestyle diseases, numerous medical camps, and excellent palliative care services. Distinctive schemes were introduced for women's development, children, differently-abled individuals, and the elderly. Notable achievements include the effective functioning of the Haritha Karma Sena (Green Action Force) for inorganic waste collection and the operation of their Material Collection Centre and innovative 'Coffee House' project. Under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the panchayat collaborated with the Agriculture Department to undertake diverse farming activities and implemented projects—such as well recharging, river conservation, and rainwater harvesting pit construction—integrated into both the employment guarantee and annual plans. Furthermore, the operations of the 'Buds School' and rehabilitation centre were optimized, vigilance committees at the panchayat and ward levels were strengthened, and exemplary projects were executed in a time-bound manner in alignment with the Nava Kerala Mission’s initiatives: Aardram, LIFE, the Public Education Rejuvenation Mission, and Haritha Keralam. Infrastructure improvements included establishing a permanent street lighting system, a road connectivity register, a biodiversity register, and a biodiversity park.
